How do you like the quality of cut of the JD cutterbar, how does it do in very light 2nd or 3rd cutters. Have you ever sheared a hub? How robust is the JD modular cutterbar? My question is - for you folks who have JD moco's, have you had any trouble with the gears in the cutterbar exploding and contaminating the common oil sump and in doing so causing more damage. I think I like the impellers, but would like the option of doing alfalfa one of these days presently doing Timothy hay. I like the JD modular design, I like the shear hubs. While Krone has a common oil sump, they don't have a modular cutter bar, but a continuous welded bar. Unlike New Holland and MF 1359, the JD gears run in a common oil sump. Deere also has shear protected hubs, similar to New Holland and Krone. JD uses a modular cutterbar, but rather than shaft drives with bevel gears at each turtle like New Holland or Massey Ferguson 1359 (model similar to the old New Idea 5209 ), Deere uses a gear bed drive - spur gears intermeshing down the length of the cutterbar. The models I'm looking at are the 625 and 630 with impeller conditioners. Schooling myself on several make mower conditioners and have a few questions on John Deere moco's.
